What life lesson do you wish you'd learned earlier?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 10, 2007:
I'd like to have learned earlier: if I seek 'the Buddha's bliss" in any thing, situation, relationship, or circumstance that is external to myself...it turns into a demon.
(Ha! Actually, I'm still trying to learn that doggone principle. As expressed by Lao Tzu (?), "To know, and yet not do, is not to know."
